Built-in parental controls, by platform
Menu layouts and exact tap-by-tap steps change with every OS and console software update. These guides describe what each built-in control system can do and what it's called — confirm the current navigation path on your own device or the manufacturer's support site before relying on it.
Screen Time
Apple's built-in parental control system, called Screen Time, can be set up directly on a child's device or managed remotely from a parent's device via Family Sharing.
Google Family Link
Google Family Link is a separate app that links a child's Google account to a parent's account, giving remote oversight of an Android device.
Router-level / DNS filtering
Device-level controls only work if a child is using that specific, managed device. Network-level filtering applies to every device on the home Wi-Fi, including consoles, smart TVs, and any device you haven't individually configured.
